Hi! ::waves:: here's the song selection (as it stands now)( long list of songs behind hereCollapse )
-I have the speed of the songs so I can keep track so there aren't all of one speed or another. Feel free to let me know if you think the speed of a song is not what I have down.
-I THINK I have a bit too many songs here. I approximated each song to be about 4 minutes and with that average...the total music time for all of these songs is 4 1/3 hours. Is that too much? too long?
-Let me know which songs are too ridiculous or whatever to be removed.
Any comments, questions, whatever...feel free to comment. Current Mood: accomplished

Hello all! I'm Myra, and I'm working on plans for a Harry Potter themed reception next April! We aren't entirely sure how we're going to incorporate Potter yet, but we're open to ideas.

I don't want her there....
In light of recent events...
So I have a tiff with Nikki, Mark's gf. In my perfect world, I would have it so that I wouldn't ever intereact with her again, if she plans on continuing to be stubborn, pigheaded, illogical, etc.
at the time of the wedding, if Mark is still with Nikki, is it okay for me to put the kabash on Nikki's attendance at our wedding?
I need some kind of concensus (sp?) for my own sanity!

You know, it's true...
It has been spoken before that brides-to-be come up with crazy ideas late at night when they can't sleep.
I certainly did last night!
I thought of screwing the Harry Potter theme and just going with a Halloween theme
I thought of a Halloween theme with minor Harry POtter elements
I thought of screwing the Harry Potter theme and just doing a "celebrate" theme, but get married on New Year's Eve
I thought of "canceling the wedding" and doing all of the polanning in secret AND make it a surprise wedding for everyone else.
AND I thought of the place card design thingie for each one of those AND some of the centerpieces.
Ugh I swear! After all of that, I decided to take an excedrin PM and I went right to sleep. Why I thought of all of those...I don't know. Well, I probably do know HOW, but I don't want to to any of them. My brain was REALLY active last night...

So I decided to work on he guest list. Annette was helping me. So I got it right now at 70 people including me, Mike, and Emily. Yay me.
Here are my questions:
Who should I invite other than family and close friends? I mean, are there certain kinds of people that one usually invites?
How many people does one usually seat at a table?
How does one arrange who sits with whom? Current Mood: cold

okay, so today all day on the style network is "weho's weding is it anyway?" a program about wedding coordinators. and it got Mike thinking about the wedding. AND, in turn, got me starting to think about it again. So I'm gonna call Kenny and start talking about things. He's gonna help a ton with his army recipe database of 5000+ recipes. It's great.

if you don't have the rockapella version..I will be happy to send it to you! and as for the hp soundtracks...you hp fans should own them! SO..there's no excuse....vote!

changes to an update!
OKay, so I think this is the first time I've changed my mind so quickly!
Nikki took me fabric shopping today so i could get swatches to show Mike my ideas. Weel, they didn't have my fabric choice for an invisibility cloak, but I think I found something better. and I got great ideas for the cloaks for the wedding party. I'm taking pictures to post here. But the candle idea is very much they're...I'll jsut have to get candles that match their cloaks!
Went to JoAnn's and they didn't have parchment paper! WTF? Target has parchment paper!!! They're verclempt! (my jewish moemnt of the day! So anywho...I was thinking about my scroll guest book! I've been looking for an actual scroll that I can buy. Seems to not exist. So if there's someone who knows of where I can purchase one...that would be wonderful. As it stands right now, I'm thinking of puchasing one of those fax paper rolls and crushing it into one big ball and sticking it in a big bowl of coffee. I don't think I would ahve the ability to make the whole roll, but more than one would be fine, right? Does this seem reasonable?
again...more song help. so I was thinking about the song selection. I've music from all over the spectrum. But I was thinking about the theme...so if anyone can give me song titles that have magical words in them. "Witchcraft" by Frank Sinatra for example. Moon, stars, magic, etc...are words to get you started. Thanx a bunch!

update on decisions
okay...this is what I have decided:
the picture person (whether it be digital or polaroid) and the program people will be working near each other. the picture person will take pictures of the guests on a backdrop of some sort (whether I have one made or ordered...we'll see) and the program person will hand out the scroll style programs tied in house color ribbon combos (silver and green for Slytherin, etc)
the wedding party members (how ever many we end up having, so far there's only two) will hold pillar candles (3" in diameter, don't know how tall yet...probably 6" because that seems to be most common) of their favorite house color. And they'll wear robes of their favorite house (the other one to off set the candle, done in PoA style) or wear school robes with the Hogwarts crest on them (SoS style)
I've been working on the song list, but all suggestions are welcome. I need a song for the dance matt and I share. I need some suggestions on a Mother/Son dance song. mike doesn't like my choice for a first dance song...he says it's too slow. My choice is "The Nearness of You" by Norah Jones, which I want sung by Ashley, my MOH (don't worry Ash....I'll try and talk him into it again). So I've come up with three others. they're not even that much faster, but here they are:
L.O.V.E- by Natalie Cole (I love this version)
I'll Be- Edwin McCain
Only Fools Rush In- UB40
What do y'all think? any other ideas as first dance songs? Current Mood: anxious

Hi! I'm Cassie, engaged to Billy. We're planning a September wedding, hopefully September 17. Billy's in Iraq now, so I'm kinda on my own with this wedding stuff. I found this community through diy weddings. We're planning a semi-Princess Bride theme and thought I might find some things here I could possibly use for that.
And...I absolutely love Harry Potter!
For more about us see our website: http://www.punkrockingalanodel1.com!
There's also some wedding stuff on there (through "wedding links")

Polaroid people and music
see, I was thinking that the polaroid people could be my photography and then we could take all the polaroids and make those my wedding album because polaroids are closest to the magical moving pics. Or would regular film work jst as well? insight please!
Music- other than the hp music from the soundtracks for the ceremony and the first dance song, I guess the rest of the music is up in the air! suggestions? OH! since matt is walking me down the aisle, logically I would have a dance with him...suggestions on a song for us. Because he's not really my dad...he's my big brother.
okie dokie- enjoy today's topic!

my name is beth...
i'm not exactly planning a harry potter wedding myself, but i am putting together a themed wedding. actually, old victorian style. *groan*
part of me wishes i hadn't decided on the theme because it is so very floral and feminine (which is not the typical me... i would rather wear a t-shirt and jeans with his dogtags than a pink shirt and a skirt with a pretty pearl necklace) but i figure i'm not exactly girlie most days of my life so on my wedding day i probably should give it a wherl. :)
but i am happy to post about that, if you'll let me and i'll offer whatever i can in support and suggestions for everyone else.
|Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005|
so i've noticed that every is replying to the orignal post so I'm going to take this piece by piece. This topic: Programs.
I figure a program would be wonderful to explain the theme, and all the unique aspects of the wedding.
good idea? bad idea?
what should be included? what shouldn't be included?
what to make them out of? because they have parchment paper at the stores that we could print out of a normal printer and fold up. how about scrolls?
fonts to use?
and anything else y'all can come up with!
thanx a bunch

ok, so we need to come up with hp themed invites, too. i've seen castle invites, but they're more prince/princess-y rather than harry potter-y. if there's anyone out there with any artistic talent (ie: NOT ME) then you could also probably swing making your own. not necessarily hand made, but designed by someone you love. how cool would that be? Current Mood: lazy
more wedding stuff
okay, I totally forgot to mention that I won $300 worth of flowers from a drawing at David's Bridal.
Suggestions given to me:
-twinkle lights to represent snitches
right well, that's all for now!
